This task aimed to diagnose the functioning of the existing SME support instruments, i.e. to identify and assess the functioning of the existing support instruments for SMEs based on non-reactive and reactive research, including surveys among SMEs. As part of the task, the issue of the universality and scope of the use of needs and satisfaction surveys from the support offered by SMEs concerning local government units and local business environment institutions in Poland and abroad was also examined. This study was aimed at identifying the expectations, intensity, and effects of cooperation, including synergistic effects for the economic activity of SMEs benefiting from the support of local structures of local government and local business environment institutions.
