In task 2, based on data from two sources – the integrated database, which was the result of the implementation of task 1 (statistical background of the voivodeship situation) and questionnaire research (nearly 2.5 thousand enterprises were surveyed), statistical and econometric analyzes were carried out for medium-sized enterprises, as a result of which the current picture of the state of SMEs was created, presenting the key issues: competitiveness, innovation, productivity, and cooperative relationships of micro, small and medium enterprises. They were prepared according to the following sections – size (number of employees) and industry affiliation (PKD sections) and on three levels of spatial aggregation – region (NUTS 2), sub-region (NUTS 3), and poviat (NUTS 4). Based on the conducted research, key conclusions were developed regarding: the share of companies with foreign capital in the total number of enterprises, ownership forms of enterprises, investment plans, internationalization of entities from the SME sector, productivity and innovation, cooperation with other entities, and a synthetic assessment of the level of innovation, competitiveness, productivity and cooperation of enterprises according to the PKD sections, which allowed to identify key industries for the region.
As a result of task 2, two reports containing research results and key conclusions were prepared: “Sector of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship” and “Sector of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship.
